How SuyaSuya works.
1. CBT-I
Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is a structured approach that can combine sleep education, stimulus control, adjustment of time in bed, cognitive strategies, and relapse prevention. Systematic reviews report that complete CBT-I improves several sleep outcomes in adults with chronic insomnia.
2. What informs SuyaSuya
SuyaSuya carefully draws on selected behavioral principles associated with CBT-I: observing sleep with a diary, stabilizing wake time, reducing time awake in bed, suggesting one clear action, and reassessing regularly. The digital program does not claim to reproduce complete clinical CBT-I or replace a therapist.
3. Observation before a personal schedule
For new pathways, calculation waits for fourteen valid ordinary nights. During this period, the user records estimates of bedtime, sleep onset, awakenings, wake time, naps, and daytime state. An honest estimate is enough. The diary is adapted from the Consensus Sleep Diary. Previously started pathways retain their earlier rules. This period establishes a personal pattern; it does not produce a diagnosis.
4. Weekly adjustments
Each week, the program reviews only sufficiently complete, confirmed nights. It considers regularity, estimated sleep efficiency, sleepiness, distress, and adherence. Changes are gradual, constrained by safety rules, and accompanied by an understandable reason.
The orientation questionnaire
Our questions describe your difficulty, personal goal, frequency, duration, opportunity to sleep, and relevant precautions. They are written for SuyaSuya: they are not a validated clinical questionnaire and do not produce a severity score. The ISI is not integrated in this version.
5. Deterministic engine and AI coach
The deterministic engine calculates schedules, adjustments, and safety stops from versioned, auditable rules. The AI coach may explain, rephrase, ask questions, and support use of the program. It does not diagnose, prescribe, independently change schedules, or bypass the engine’s safeguards.
6. Limitations and professional care
SuyaSuya is intended for education and self-guided sleep improvement. Consult a healthcare professional if difficulties persist, worsen, or cause significant distress, or if you have marked daytime sleepiness, sleep-related breathing signs, concerning mental-health symptoms, pregnancy, a complex medical condition, or shift work. If sleepy while driving, do not drive. In immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
